Where is the oldest active brewery in the world?

Situated in a small town just north of Munich, Germany, the Weihenstephan brewery was originally a Benedictine monastery founded in 740 CE. But beer wasn’t made there until 1040 when a guy named Abbott Arnold acquired the brewing rights and license from a nearby monastery. In spite of experiencing four fires, three plagues and a major earthquake, Weihenstephan has been brewing beer continually for nearly a thousand years.
